Reflection Disconnect

This piece explores the feeling of being disconnected from my own reflection, the desire to overcome this and the added pressure of being closely observed as I work through this. In the original the face on the left is painted, Olive (my daughter) in the middle is a photograph and my reflection in the mirror is a digital drawing. The different media represent the disconnection between all three elements.

This piece was recently selected by Mawaan Rizwan on Grayson Perry’s Art Club TV Show (Season 3, episode 4) for the theme of Inside My Head. The original will be exhibited as part of a National Exhibition at the Midlands Art Centre, Birmingham and will run from December 2022 - April 2023.
