In June 2021 I started a year long course with the renowned Newlyn School of Art. I feel so lucky to have this school here in Cornwall. The artists associated with the school are incredible, producing and showing fantastic work along side tutoring here. The course took place over a year and was jam packed with talks, tutorials, practicals and one-to-one help. Faye Dobinson, the course leader is an inspirational creative force and was so generous with her help and advice. Over the course of 12 months I learned to understand what makes me and my work unique. It gave me valuable insight into why and how I make work. I understand that the way I see and interpret the world around me is totally unique and forms an integral part of my practice. The course was a wonderful experience and I would strongly recommend to anyone in the early stages of their art journey or even for those wanting to better understand and develop their practice.
This is me with a selection of works I presented called ‘Reflections’ in my final group crit. session.
Here is a selection of works created whilst on this course;
